The most well-known private schools in Brookline/Chestnut Hill are Beaver Country Day, Brimmer and May, Chestnut Hill School, Dexter Southfield, and Park.

Children from a number of surrounding towns attend private schools located in Brookline. In reality the distance separating some of the surrounding towns is only a few miles. Couple that with the fact that for some working parents, Brookline is a convenient stop on the way to their office in Boston, and it's easy to understand why the student body is usually a mix of students from different towns.
Not all Brookline families send their kids to a private school in town. Some opt for schools nearby. Fessenden, Winsor, British International School, Buckingham Browne & Nichols a.k.a. BB&N, Milton Academy and Kingsley Montessori School are all popular private schools not far from Brookline.
