Brimmer and May School is located in a quiet Chestnut Hill neighborhood along the Brookline-Newton border street of Middlesex Road. Some of the school’s buildings back up to the MBTA D-Line Chestnut Hill stop which gives a good indication of how close to public transportation the school is located. A footpath from the Chestnut Hill Stop leads directly to Brimmer and May.
The Chestnut Hill post office and Longwood Cricket Club are neighbors to Brimmer and May School which also runs parallel to Route 9 and perpendicular to Hammond Street. The school is walking distance to Boston College, the posh shops at The Street in Chestnut Hill, and The Longyear Museum.
Real estate near Brimmer and May School is mainly single family homes, and there are some beauties in the neighborhood, including those that are off of Middlesex Road and Hammond Street. These are affluent neighborhoods whose homes have a good amount of land.
Brimmer and May serves some 410 students from Pre-K through 12th grade with a 6 to 1 student to faculty ratio. The school is divided into a lower school (Pre-K through 5th grade); a middle schooler (6th through 8th grade); and an upper school (9th through 12th grade).
The school recently broke ground on a new athletic facility that is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
The lower school is in session from 8 AM - 3 PM Monday-Thursday, and 8 AM - 2:30 on Friday; the middle school runs from 7:50 AM - 3:00 PM Monday, and 7:50 AM - 2:30 PM Tuesday-Friday; and the upper school day is Monday-Friday from 7:50 AM - 3:15 PM.
