Driscoll School is located in the heart of Washington Square, close to the intersection of Beacon Street and Washington Street where the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) C Line train and popular 65 bus stop. The C-Line goes from Cleveland Circle to downtown Boston, while the 65 bus takes commuters to the Longwood Medical area, making this school public transportation friendly for adults that commute to Boston for work. The area is also home to a number of businesses, including the very popular Russian School of Mathematics, coffee shops, restaurants and preschools.
Driscoll School has been in the neighborhood for more than 100 years and a new school recently opened in November, 2023.
Driscoll School is the only elementary school in Brookline to teach students Mandarin as part of the World Language program. It's also one of seven locations to host the Brookline Early Education Program (BEEP).
Children from Washington Square and Corey Hill attend Driscoll School, which is also home to the Town’s Language & Academic Home Base (LAHB) program. The LAHB serves students of average or above-average cognitive abilities for whom learning is challenging due to specific learning disabilities in one or more of the basic perceptual processes involved in understanding or using written or spoken language.
Driscoll School is accessible from Washington St, Westbourne Terrace, or Bartlett Street. The school is situated on one of Brookline’s main streets (Washington) and has a number of condominiums facing it in both the front and back. Home types in Washington Square are a mix of condos and single families.
